2018 Inductees

Michael ‘Biscuit’ Brisiel

Michael Brisiel was a four-sport letterman in football, baseball, basketball, and track. It was in football that Michael truly excelled, being named to the All State, All Arkansas, All Democrat-Gazette, All Area, and All Times teams. Michael attended Colorado State University on a football scholarship where he started all four years. Michael later went on to play in the National Football League for 8 years, with the Houston Texans and the Oakland Raiders.

Donna Williams Meinecke

Donna Williams Meinecke was the first Fayetteville gymnast to compete all-around in a State meet. As an FHS cheerleader, Donna was known for her cheerful and enthusiastic attitude and her teammates put FHS in position to be in the top five schools in Arkansas in the 70’s. Donna was one of the first two women to be awarded a college athletic scholarship. She competed on one of the early University of Arkansas gymnastic teams.

William Lee (Bull) Hayes

William Lee Hayes was the first African-American athlete to play at the high school level in Arkansas. He became very well known for his powerful nickname, Bull, which he received during his days as a caddy at Fayetteville Country Club. The name stuck after he became a smash mouth fullback for the football team. Bull was named All-District and later received an athletic scholarship to the University of Nebraska. After one year in Nebraska, he transferred to Joplin Junior College.

Blake Parker

Blake Parker stood out as a multi-sport. athlete when attending Fayetteville Public Schools. He excelled at football, but it was on the baseball diamond that he racked up honors and accolades. Blake was apart of the 2003 State Championship team and was named Most Valuable Player and selected to the All State and All American teams as a senior. He later played baseball at the University of Arkansas and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2006 MLB Draft.

Wallace Spearmon Jr.

Two-time Olympian Wallace Spearmon Jr. was a standout at Fayetteville High School. He played basketball and football for two years, but it was in track that he truly excelled. He earned All-State honors in the 100m, 200m. 400m, long jump, triple jump, and high jump plus the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. He attended the University of Arkansas where he competed collegiately for two seasons before turning pro and receiving many professional accolades.

Don Trumbo

Don was a 1949 graduate of Fayetteville High School who was an outstanding athlete in three sports: football, basketball, and track. As a junior he was a member of Fayetteville’s District football championship team and the basketball State Championship team. He was fifth in the state high jump. As a senior he was on the All-District, All-Conference, and All-State teams as Fayetteville won the State basketball championship. He attended the University of Arkansas on a scholarship where he participated in basketball and track.
