Don Trumbo

Don Trumbo was an outstanding community leader in Fayetteville who served the city as Mayor prior to his untimely death in a tragic automobile accident. He was a Fayetteville native who consistently kept the best interests of his hometown in mind as he made decisions that affected the city and its citizens.

Don was a 1949 graduate of Fayetteville High School who was an outstanding athlete in three sports: football, basketball, and track. As a junior he was a member of Fayetteville’s District football championship team. He was fifth in the state high jump. As a senior he was on the All-District, All-Conference, and All-State teams as Fayetteville won the State Basketball Championship. He was District Long Jump Champion and was first in the State High Jump. He attended the University of Arkansas on a scholarship where he participated in basketball and track.

Don and wife Jan, also deceased, had five sons: Trey, Tx, Ty, Trent, and Travis. All attended Fayetteville High School and were outstanding athletes. The family includes ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, many of whom continue to live in Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas.
