William Bryant
William Bryant is a Fayetteville High School graduate of 1967. Bryant’s sports career started in first grade, where he began playing baseball and would later pick up the sports of basketball and football in junior high and high school. After graduating from Fayetteville High School, Bryant earned a full-ride scholarship to play basketball at the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville. After three years of college, William was forced to drop out because of racial discrimination. The officials of the college wanted William to cut his hair, but he refused as it was a mark of his African-American identity. Many say William has always been a person of high morals and still remains that way today.
After college, William returned to Fayetteville. In 1991, William was given an opportunity to be an assistant coach at Ramay Junior High School and continued that journey until 1998. He is married to the love of his life, Sheila, and has two children, Zondi and Shaundra.
