Wendell Harris

Wendell Harris left a lasting mark on Fayetteville High School's athletic legacy. His coaching journey began in 1983 at Woodland Junior High, where he honed his skills before moving to Ramay Junior High in 1985. After a decade at Ramay, Wendell transitioned to Fayetteville High School in 1995, where he embarked on an illustrious career that would last many decades.

At FHS, Wendell wore multiple hats, serving as a defensive coordinator, linebackers coach, and interior offensive line coach. His expertise and dedication played a pivotal role in FHS's success, contributing to five state championships in football. Wendell's impact extended beyond just the gridiron. As an assistant coach and first base coach for baseball, he helped secure a state championship and played a crucial role in establishing the baseball program at FHS alongside Coach Vance Arnold.

 Throughout his tenure, Wendell mentored numerous players, including Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, who went on to achieve remarkable success in football. From his days as a coach at Fayetteville High School to retirement in 2018, Wendell's influence and dedication to FHS athletics have left a legacy unmatched by many other coaches. Wendell and his wife, Debbie, raised two sons during his time at Fayetteville High School, Corey and Kyle, and reside in Northwest Arkansas.
