Mark Paul
Mark Paul grew up immersed in the community of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Alongside his twin brother, Matt, and younger sister, Melanie Paul Key, Mark attended Leverett, Asbell, Ramay, and Fayetteville High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. In his youth, Mark showcased his athletic prowess in baseball and football, playing Sherman Lollar baseball and Kiwanis Kids' Football while spending cherished moments at the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club. Notably, he was a member of the renowned 1972 FHS Varsity Basketball team, sharing the court with esteemed teammates like Bobby Noland, Ben Schlegel, and Craig Curry.
Mark's professional journey spans over two decades of dedicated service to the Fayetteville community. He embarked on a fulfilling career at the Fayetteville Youth Center in 1979 under the guidance of his mentor, Dale Clark. Passionate about youth sports, Mark co-founded the FYC's first Elementary Tackle Football Program alongside Dr. Mark Bonner, leaving a lasting impact on local athletics. Over the years, Mark has been deeply involved in various community initiatives, serving as the "Voice of Harmon Field" during Fayetteville Bulldog Friday night games, working at Fayetteville Schools' athletic event gates, and contributing to the design of the current Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club. Additionally, he coached numerous youth center teams in softball, basketball, and football, demonstrating his commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering community spirit.
He married his wife, Jan, in August of 1978 and eventually graduated from UA Fayetteville in 1979 with a degree in Education. Together, they raised three children—Catie, Sarah, and John David—and now delight in the company of five grandchildren. From his early days as a young athlete to his enduring legacy as a dedicated community leader, Mark Paul continues to inspire others through his unwavering passion for service and his profound love for Fayetteville.
