George Lewis
George Lewis was a star Fayetteville High School basketball player from 1954-56, later playing in two college programs.
During the 1954-55 high school season he started every game, overing 16 points and 10 rebounds. The 1955-56 season saw an increase in his production as he again started every game and average 17 points and 11 rebounds.
In 1961-62 he played at Panhandle State College until a knee injury ended his career.
George coached at Fayetteville, Russellville, and Prairie Grove for a combined total of 13 years. He served as president of the Arkansas Athletics Association for two years and received the AAA Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Athletics in 2002.
He received his B.S.E from Panhandle State in 163 and M. Ed. from the University of Arkansas in 1975.
