Cari Tanneberger Humphry

Cari Tanneberger Humphry was a star Fayetteville High School basketball player best known for lead the Lady Purple Bulldogs to back-to-back state titles in 1993-94. The epic eight-overtime win in the 1994 finals against Mountain Home saw her score 36 points and 25 rebounds, earning Most Valuable Player honors and a spot in Sport’s Illustrated, Faces in the Crowd. In the 1993 state championship victory over Benton, she scored 26 points and had 13 rebounds.

Cari was the first FHS athlete to be named Gatorade State High School Player of the Year. She was named the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Female Athlete of the Year in 1994. She was All-State for two years and named to the All-Conference team three times. She was also selected as a member of the KURM Dream Team. Cari hold the Arkansas overall state girl’s record for most rebounds in a state tournament game, 25.

Cari graduated from the University of Arkansas where she received a business degree in accounting. After working several years in finance, she began a career as an artist. Her work has been featured in AT Home Arkansas, Country Living, Southern Living, At Urban, Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association and the Journal of American Veterinarian Association.

Cari currently is the Director of Creative Services for the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Brewer Family Entrepreneurship Hub, University of Arkansas. She and her husband Byron have three children.
