Bobby Noland
Bobby Noland was a stand out basketball player at Fayetteville High School from 1970-72. He was named All-State, to the AAA All Tournament Team, to the Arkansas All-Star Team, was an honorable mention Arkansas Gazette Super Team and voted Most Valuable Player by his teammates, all in 1972. He still holds the FHS record for rebounds per game with 14.6.
Bobby went on to play basketball at Kansas State University from 1972-76, playing in two NCAA Tournaments (including an Elite Eight), the National Invitation Tournament and the Collegiate Commissioners Tournament. The 1973 team finished first in the Big Eight Conference. Bobby was selected Academic All-Big Eight in 1976.
He received the Porky Morgan Most Inspirational Player Award in 1976, as voted by his K-State teammates.
He credits his Fayetteville High School Coach Joe Kretschmar with his success in basketball. He believes the foundation he provided enabled him to play at the college level.
After obtaining his degree in business administration at KSU, he enrolled at the University of Arkansas to earn his MBA. While there, he served as a graduate assistant coach for Eddie Sutton.
Following college, Bobby had a successful career in the petroleum, computer and plastic pallet industries.
He and his wife Marilyn have two daughters and one granddaughter.
Bobby dedicated his award to his parents, Paul and Eunice Noland who were strong supporters of their four sons as they participated in Fayetteville High School athletics. Bobby passed away in 2023.
